Since rubber stern bearing has excellent shock absorption and noise reduction performances, it has been applied more and more in navel vessels. Using LMS platform and hammering method, the experimental modal analysis of the whole rubber stern bearing was carried out. The validity of the results was verified by MAC. It is shown that the range of intrinsic frequencies of the bearing from experimental modal analysis is in accordance with that calculated by ANSYS. However, because of the nonlinearity of rubber, the vibration modes of the rubber bearing have some differences from the computation results of ANSYS, while results of frequencies and vibration modes of the metal bush are in good agreement with those from the ANSYS computation.
