The airgun hypocenters, as a type of nonpollution equipment, emit shocking waves for ocean exploration. One of key for designing an airgun hypocenter is how to optimize the characters of shock wave. A novel airgun hypocenter is studied, in which the basic parameters of airgun hypocenter and two different combinations are discussed. Based on analyzing the mechanism of underwater subsidiary wave of airgun hypocenter, six dominant design parameters are found out, they greatly determine the feature of subsidiary wave. The characters of single airgun at different air pressure and submergence depths are investigated by simulation, from which some theoretical supporting for optimal combination of airgun hypocenter can be obtained.
