The airgun hypocenters, as a type of nonpollution equipment, emit shocking waves for ocean exploration. One of key for designing an airgun hypocenter is how to optimize the characters of shock wave. A novel airgun hypocenter is studied, in which the basic parameters of airgun hypocenter and two different combinations are discussed. Based on analyzing the mechanism of underwater subsidiary wave of airgun hypocenter, six dominant design parameters are found out, they greatly determine the feature of subsidiary wave. The characters of single airgun at different air pressure and submergence depths are investigated by simulation, from which some theoretical supporting for optimal combination of airgun hypocenter can be obtained.
