The strong vibration situation of the dashboard in braking process of a small passenger car traveling at a high speed is studied. The modal testing and frequencyspectrum methods are used to analyze the possible factors of the dashboard vibration. The abnormal vibration source of the dashboard in the braking process and the vibration level of the component parts in the vibration transmission channel are determined. The theoretical basis is then provided for distinguishing vibration source and the cause of abnormal vibration of the dashboard.
