The statistical energy analysis (SEA) is applied to analyze the high frequency vibration characteristics of a gearbox. Number of modals of the gearbox is acquired by the Finite Element Analysis in the 1/3 octave frequency domain to define the suitable frequency range for SEA. The equivalent masses of two subsystems of gearbox are acquired by experimental measurement. The internal loss factors and coupling loss factors of the two subsystems are measured by the modified power injection method. The SEA model of the gearbox is established in software VAONE using the measured SEA parameters, and then the vibration response of random force excitation is calculated. Since the simulation solution and measured results agree well, the validity of the measurement method and the effectiveness of analysis of vibration response using SEA is proved. The vibration response of the gearbox under operation condition is analyzed using the gearbox SEA modal established in previous work. The results show that SEA method can analyze the vibration response of complex structure effectively.
