The tire/road noise is one of the main noise sources of both traffic environment noise and the car’s noise. The vibration and radiation noise characteristics of rolling tires were analyzed by means of the virtual prediction method. The acceleration response spectrum of the rolling tires was acquired through analyzing the dynamic response under the road impact excitations by using the modal superposition approach. The acceleration data of the rolling tire surface was imported into the acoustics analytic software as the input load. Using boundary element method, the radiation noise characteristics of the rolling tire were calculated and analyzed. The distribution and character of the noise of the tire with different tread patterns were discussed. It was found that the tread patterns have a large influence on the radiation noise characteristics of the rolling tires, and reduction of the mass of the tread patterns will enhance the radiation noise.
