The quasi-wavelet method to solve the dynamic response of beams was proposed. Then the method is used for studying the effects of longitudinal resonance on the dynamic stability with the damping effect taken into account. The study shows the longitudinal resonance can lead to a serious dynamic instability, while the damping can improve the stability effectively. These conclusions are coincident with the existing conclusions well. Hence, the feasibility and effectiveness of the quasi-wavelet method is verified.

Due to the requirement of railway noise evaluation, the Germany Schall03 noise forecasting model is amended according to the actual railroad situation in the western mountain areas of our country. The amended Germany Schall03 forecasting model is then used to forecast the railway noise in Weining section of NeijiangKunming line. Comparing the predictive value with the measured data, it shows that using the amended model to predict the noise of this railway section is feasible and effective. The work in this paper complements the deficiency of the research of railway noise prediction in the western mountain area of our country.
