The theories and methods of noise source identification of vehicles and their characteristics are summarized in this paper. It provides a reference for adopting appropriate methods for noise source identification of vehicles. It is pointed out that visualization technique is one of the most important trends for development of noise source identification.

The structural characteristics of hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) are analyzed in this paper. The changes of the noise and vibration sources and their characteristics due to the structural change are studied. The methods for controlling the noise and vibration of the HEV are put forward. Finally, the difficulty and the development trend of the noise and vibration control of the HEV are summarized.
