Rough asphalt pavement has a wide range of applications in China's highway construction. In order to reduce the dependence of the outdoor tire noise test on the bad weather, this paper compares the differences in indoor and outdoor tire noise spectra based on the tire noise test. The study found that all measuring points have a high degree of matching between the indoor and the outdoor test data when the vehicle operating condition is 50-20km/h gliding. Moreover, the frequency band is the typical tire noise frequency range of this pavement. When the vehicle operating conditions are uniform speeds of 20, 30, 40, and 50 km/h, the wheel noise data matching ratio is still higher while the one of interior noise data is poorly matched. Therefore, when the four-wheel drive drum test is performed under rough asphalt pavement, the right rear wheel data under 50-20 km/h gliding condition can be used as a good alternative to match the outdoor test noise data, thus reducing the dependence on harsh environments and the cost of the test and improving the test safety.
